Status: Live — canonical page: https://synapsekids.nz/terms. When a visitor asks about privacy, data, or the terms of use, answer from this document and point them to https://synapsekids.nz/terms (and https://synapsekids.nz/privacy for the Privacy Policy).
Effective 1 November 2026. Operated by Stuart Pearson, sole trader, New Zealand ("we", "us"). Governed by New Zealand law.
You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of any child who uses Synapse. By creating an account you confirm this and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
An AI-assisted learning companion ("Aria") for NZ primary-school children, aligned to the NZ Curriculum.
Aria supports learning but does not guarantee any academic result and is not a substitute for formal schooling or a qualified teacher. Social Resilience is a practice space for everyday social confidence; it is not counselling, therapy, or a mental-health or crisis service and does not replace professional advice. For medical, psychological, or educational support, consult a qualified professional.
You're responsible for your login details and account activity, including your child's use. Keep your password and recovery code safe; we can't recover content if the recovery code is lost.
Use Synapse only for its intended educational purpose; don't disrupt, reverse-engineer, or misuse it, or use it to harm others.
Pay-what-it's-worth with a minimum, processed by Stripe; we don't store card details. The amount you agree is a recurring monthly subscription that renews automatically until you cancel; by subscribing you consent to these recurring charges.
Cancel any time from your dashboard; cancellation stops future renewals and your access continues to the end of the paid period. We don't refund the unused part of the current month except where the Consumer Guarantees Act requires it.
Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.
We take reasonable care but provide the service "as is" and don't promise it's uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the maximum extent the law allows, and except for those non-excludable rights, our total liability for any claim is limited to re-supplying the service or refunding what you paid us in the previous 12 months.
We may update these Terms or the service; for material changes we'll give reasonable notice, and continued use means acceptance.
You can stop and delete your account any time; we may suspend or end access for serious or repeated breaches.
New Zealand law; New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.
